Cleaning of shared areas
Information and rules
Cleaning of extractor hoods is part of the weekly cleaning when you are responsible for kitchen cleaning in the A and D stairwells.
This decision was made because the extractor hoods were previously only cleaned once a year during spring cleaning, which made them both difficult to clean and extremely unhygienic.
The cleaning bucket will be delivered to your stairwell by the caretaker. Cleaning supplies must be purchased at LokalBrugsen. The product is called “degreaser” (Grundrens) and costs around 30 DKK.

Rengøringsordning
Skjoldhøjkollegiet residents’ council has decided to implement a cleaning system. The system applies to all A, B, and D stairwells. The purpose of the system is to maintain a reasonable level of cleanliness in the common areas of the stairwells.
Cleaning control
Each stairwell has a cleaning schedule, and each room resident is responsible for cleaning either the kitchen or the common room every six weeks. Which room is responsible for cleaning is shown in the cleaning schedule and follows a rotation principle. This means that one week you clean the kitchen, six weeks later you clean the common room, and so on.
Cleaning is checked every Tuesday morning between 08:00 and 10:00 by the caretakers. If the cleaning is not carried out satisfactorily, a professional cleaning company will take over the task, and you will be held financially responsible for the additional cost. The amount will be automatically deducted from the next rent payment.
Complaints about overly strict or poorly conducted cleaning inspections can initially be directed to the caretaker during opening hours.
Cleaning takes 1–2 hours, 8–9 times per year, so it is not considered a heavy workload. It should be emphasized that being responsible for cleaning the kitchen in a given week does not mean you are responsible for cleaning up after others’ dishes.
Payment for unperformed cleaning
Payment for cleaning carried out by an external cleaning company will be charged together with the next month’s rent to the responsible resident.
Empty rooms
In cases where the room listed in the cleaning schedule is not rented out, no cleaning company will be called in to perform the missing cleaning.
Obligation
Remember that all residents are obliged to actively contribute to keeping the stairwell clean in accordance with the tenancy agreement and maintenance regulations.
If you are dissatisfied with the cleaning inspection, you should contact the dormitory caretaker at skjoldhoej@kollegiekontoret.dk.
If you have suggestions for improvements to the system, they can be sent to the residents’ council at BR@skjoldhoej.dk.
