Skelager Kollegiet

Welcome to Skelager Kollegiet. Here you can rent either a room or an entire apartment depending on what you are looking for. This hall of residence is located close to grocery shopping stores and many of the city’s educational institutions, such as Via University College, the University and DMJX. There are plenty of opportunities here to socialize with the other residents, and a common room is available for activities such as playing board games, table football or ping pong together. It is completely up to you, how social you wish to be.

Apart from the common room, there is a shared laundry room, storage rooms, bicycle sheds, parking spaces and so on, which may be used by all residents. In the neighbourhood a handful of the city’s other hall of residences are located as well. On a bicycle, you can reach many of your daily destinations within short time. You can also take the bus, which has a stop close by. Each of us makes sure to sort our waste – if you have any questions you can contact the caretaker.

Skelager Kollegiet has 135 apartments for rent:
18 rooms, approx. 28-32 m2
77 1-room apartments, approx. 28 m2
46 2-room apartments, approx. 44-54 m2
Description: The residents living in the rooms share toilet and kitchen with one or two other – some share a shower as well. All apartments are equipped with private facilities. Smoking is not permitted on inside and outside areas. All rentals have parquet flooring and are unfurnished except for a wardrobe.
Rent: Depends on the rental type (for more information press “Apply for rental”).
Included in the rent: The use of water, heat and internet.
(electricity is also included in the rooms).
Non-smoking hall of residence: Smoking is not allowed at the property of the hall of residence. Neither inside nor outside. Residents who move in at Skelager Kollegiet from the 1st of July 2019 are not allowed to smoke in their own apartments.
Pets: Not allowed.

About the dorm

The common house and parties

At Skelager Kollegiet, there is a Common House and a common room that can be used for events and social gatherings. The common room has a television with an extended TV package and games (including foosball, table tennis, and board games). The Common House can be rented by residents and used for shared activities. The party committee “Promillerne” regularly organizes events at the dormitory.

Laundry

In the basement under Building 5, there is a laundry room. Payment is made using a chip, which you receive together with your keys when you move in. The laundry facilities are open 24 hours a day.

Next to the laundry room, there is a drying room with drying racks, an ironing board, an iron, and vacuum cleaners available for free use. There are also outdoor drying racks on the dormitory grounds that can be used when the weather permits.

Please help keep the laundry area clean and tidy. Clean up after yourself, only remove others’ laundry if it is dry, and remember to clean the lint filter in the dryers both before and after use.

Other Facilities

Parking
Skelager Kollegiet has a private parking area that can be freely used by all residents and their guests.

Bicycle sheds
Each block has a locked bicycle shed, where residents are encouraged to store their bicycles instead of leaving them on the walkways.

Rules regarding moped/scooter/motorcycle use on pathways
It is illegal to ride scooters, mopeds, or motorcycles on the dormitory’s pathways. This is due to noise issues and the inconvenience caused by parking scooters, mopeds, or motorcycles in areas where they disturb other residents. Do not place any objects on the pathways.

Hammer drill
A hammer drill is available for use when drilling is needed and can be borrowed at the dormitory by contacting the chairperson of the board.

Storage rooms
The dormitory also has storage rooms where you can store items that do not fit in your room or apartment.

Please keep an eye on the notices on the bulletin boards around the dormitory — important information is posted there.

We are continuously looking for new members who want to help boost the social life at the dormitory. Contact us by email at: promillerne@skelager.dk. Please include your name, address, and mobile number in the email.

New ideas?
If you have good ideas for events, you are also welcome to write to the email above. If you want to organize an event where the whole dormitory is invited, you can rent the Common House for free and receive financial support for the event from the board.

Activity group

The purpose of the activity group is to be social together in an active way. Everyone is welcome!

In the Facebook group, the time for the weekly running session is posted. We have three different running routes with varying distances—so don’t be discouraged if you’re a beginner. You never run alone.

Throughout the year, we organize outings such as walks, canoe trips, ice skating, and much more. If you have new ideas for activities, you are more than welcome to contact the group coordinator.
