Munkegade Kollegiet

Welcome to Munkegade Kollegiet. At this hall of residence, you can either rent an entire 1-room or 2-room apartment with private kitchen and toilet/shower facilities, or rent a single room in one of the apartments, where you share kitchen and toilet with another resident. The building is from 1890 and used to be an old factory. Today, it is a small, cozy dormitory in midtown Aarhus.

Even though, it is located in the middle of the city, it is withdrawn from the street, and you can relax and recharge. There is a green area with grass, trees and bushes, where you can enjoy the sun during the summer time and meet up with friends. At Munkegade Kollegiet, there are, among other things, parking spaces, a bicycle shed and a laundry room available. If there is anything else, you are going to need, the city is right in front of you.

Munkegade Kollegiet contains:
8 1-room apartments, approx. 29 m2.
8 2-room apartments, approx. 50 m2.
32 rooms in apartments, approx. 27 m2.Description: All apartments have private kitchen, toilet and shower facilities, while the residents in the rooms share with another person. It is randomly chosen whether you will be sharing with a male or a female. All rentals are unfurnished. Smoking is not allowed in the shared areas. Residents moving in after 1.1.2020 are not allowed to smoke in their rentals either.
Rent: Depends on the rental type (for more information press “apply for rental”).
Included in the rent: The use of water, heat and internet.
Smoking: Not allowed indoors. Residents, who move in after 1.1.2020 are not allowed to smoke in their rentals.
Pets: Not allowed.

About the dorm

Laundry

The washing machines may be used between 7:00 AM and 10:00 PM.
You must book a time in the calendar to do laundry. You may book up to two four-hour slots per week (unless the calendar is not fully booked). Bookings can be made up to two weeks in advance.

Booking

When you open the calendar, you must add the calendar that appears and then request access. In the request, you must write your full name and room number. The board will then grant you access to the calendar as soon as possible.

Bookings are made by selecting a time slot in the calendar and writing your room number, e.g. 12:00 – 14:00 A1.

If you only need to use one washing machine or the tumble dryer, we recommend indicating this in your booking by referencing the machines as follows: “LW” and “RW” for left and right washing machine, and “TD” for tumble dryer, so others can also do laundry if there are free machines in your time slot.

Common room

The common room can be rented for two types of events: a party or a small gathering.

Booking

Check the common room calendar to see whether the room is available on the desired date (please note that the common room can only be rented for two small events per week, a maximum of one party per weekend, and a maximum of three parties per month).

If the calendar shows that the common room is available, you must contact the person responsible for the common room to sign a rental agreement and pay the rent and deposit. The room is not considered rented until the agreement has been signed and all payments have been made. Only then will the responsible person add your booking to the common room calendar.

It is not possible to reserve the common room. The first person to pay and sign the contract gets the room.

For both types of events, the following applies:

  1. You must be a tenant at the residence hall to rent the common room.
  2. The common room is only rented out for closed, non-commercial private events.
  3. By signing, the tenant becomes legally responsible towards the board and may be subject to the usual sanctions in case of theft, vandalism, or violation of house rules and common room regulations. This includes, in particular, liability for any damages incurred.
