Far far away, behind the word mountains, far from the countries Vokalia and Consonantia, there live the
Recident democracy
A democracy with benefits
Through resident democracy, each resident has a unique opportunity to actively influence the daily operation, maintenance and development of their own home. Graden af indflydelse afhænger naturligvis af engagement og indsats, men den afhænger som i ethvert andet demokrati også af enighed med andre. Many decisions start with discussions between neighbors in the individual dormitory. From here, the matter proceeds through the system, and if the idea gains a majority, the way is paved for it to be implemented.
In the departments of the Student Housing Office, the democratic body is called the department board and in the self-governing dormitories, it is called the residents’ council.
Not a requirement, but an opportunity
Taking part in resident democracy is not a requirement when you live in a dormitory, but an opportunity to influence your everyday life, gain knowledge about board work, and make your CV more attractive. If you are interested in this, we can only encourage you to attend the department or resident meeting at your dormitory and run as a member of the department board or resident council.
More influence
Resident democracy is reflected at all levels of the organization. If you, as a member of the department board or residents’ council, find your duties exciting and you are looking for more challenges, there are good opportunities in the Student Administration Office in Aarhus to be elected to other positions of trust. For example, on the board of directors or the executive committee.
