Apartments in a former hotel

Chr. X's Kollegium

Welcome to Chr. X’s Kollegium located in Viby in the southern part of Aarhus. This hall of residence has been home to a lot of young people, ever since is was transformed from a hotel to a dormitory in 2006. It is still noticeable that the building used to be a hotel, when walking down the hallways. The building consists of more than a hundred 1-room apartments placed on 4 floors, as well as four 2-room apartments located in their own building.

At the dorm, there are plenty of opportunities to use some of the shared facilities. For example, the shared kitchen, the gym or the terrace. There is a parking area right outside the front entrance and Business Academy Aarhus is located just one km away.

About the dorm

The bar

The hall of residence has its own bar called “Den Royale,” which is used for various events, such as the biannual Tour des Chambres, Carnival celebrations, Christmas gatherings, and private parties.

As a resident, you can borrow the bar area for your own events. You simply need to pay a deposit of 300 DKK. Contact the bar manager if you would like to reserve it. You can also rent the bar for a small fee, which includes one or two bartenders and light cleaning the following day.

The residence’s bar team is responsible for organizing student parties. If you would like to be part of the team, you can contact the bar chairperson 🙂

Cleaning scheme

We have a cleaning schedule where each resident is assigned cleaning duties in one of the shared areas 3–5 times a year. On each floor, there is a plan showing who is responsible for cleaning when and which area is assigned. Cleaning is done on Sunday evenings so everything is neat and clean for Monday morning, when the caretaker checks whether the work has been completed. If a cleaning duty is missed, professional cleaning will be arranged at the resident’s expense.

In addition, we have an annual cleaning day where all residents gather and help out, ensuring that the hall of residence shines. It’s a cozy event—and there is cake!

Shared facilities

Fitness room
You get access to the residence’s fitness room using a chip, which you can collect from the caretaker. The gym is equipped with training machines and equipment.

TV lounge
The TV lounge is frequently used for evenings where residents want to watch movies together. The TV has a large TV package. It is a new TV with a soundbar and a PlayStation 3.

Volleyball and other games
We have a volleyball court in the backyard! The residence also offers table football, table tennis, darts, bob, a pool table, and a beer pong table.

The residence features a terrace with a Weber grill, a fire pit with fire equipment (including a fire stand, pot, gloves, and firewood), and a volleyball court.

Cleaning room
On each floor, there is a cleaning room where you can borrow a vacuum cleaner and mop. This is also where your freezer space is located. The cleaning room also contains various cleaning supplies, which you may use when it is your turn to clean one of the shared areas.
